01. A perfect location for families and larger groups.
MileAway’s generous proportions and modern, comfortable design make it ideal for your group of 8 or more. The main farmhouse sleeps 8 and our barn guest house sleeps 2+.
02. Close to everything.
MileAway was named over 50 years ago for its proximity to Mount Mansfield, and is literally a mile away from the first lifts on the mountain, the Toll House lifts.
03. Modern Amenities.
MileAway was updated with the future in mind—with smart appliances and systems in both the main house and guest house, radiant heated flooring in all bathrooms and mudrooms, and all bedrooms supplied with a dedicated full bath
04. Honoring the environment & Vermont’s natural resources.
We care deeply about our environmental footprint, and for that reason built MileAway to be fully powered by electricity. Fossil fuels do not power any systems on the property—from appliances to heating/cooling and hot water. In addition, we’ve repurposed building materials from the original home throughout, and utilized local architectural salvage in nearly every room.

It’s easy to find space to be together, as well as room to find solitude within our main house and guest house. With multiple en suite bedrooms and living/dining spaces, MileAway offers ultimate flexibility and room for lots of fun!

We built MileAway with the comfort and enjoyment of multi-generational family groups in mind. There’s space for little ones to cozy up with a story or build with LEGOs, and room for teens to hang and listen to music on our vinyl record player. Parents and grandparents will find private retreats with gorgeous ensuite bathrooms for rest and relaxation.

MileAway’s private location, natural surroundings and modern amenities make it a luxurious getaway for couples. With romantic spaces for dining, lounging and relaxing, you’ll find room to connect and decompress together.

“Mile Away is anything but sterile-feeling from its exceptional design that preserves the historic features of the original 1850 house, to its beautiful finishes, to its gorgeous interiors (The wallpaper! The fixtures! The eclectic tile on the heated bathroom floors!) Every nook of the main house where we stayed is so special, and everywhere you look are unique items that capture the heart and mind. Upon arrival we were welcomed with a goody basket filled with information, recommendations, and locally-sourced goodies. From start to finish we were delighted by the experience. Our family has rented ski houses several places around the country, and this, by far, was our best experience.
