Guest House
With its own private entrance and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the Guest House serves as a fully
independent retreat that perfectly complements the Main House. It features a complete kitchen,
a cozy living area, a full bathroom, and an additional laundry setup, allowing guests to settle
in with ease.
The space comfortably sleeps up to four guests, offering a queen bedroom as well as
a built-in queen bed in the living area—ideal for extended family, grandparents, couples, or
anyone seeking added privacy without feeling separated from the group.

Located directly on Mountain Rd, Mile Away is just one mile from the first ski lifts on Mount Mansfield in Stowe, Vermont. We’re also minutes from Stowe Village, Bingham Falls, Smugglers’ Notch, and a wide variety of hiking and biking trails.
Mile Away comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests in total — 8 in the main house and 4 in the attached private guest house.
Built in 1859 and fully restored, Mile Away blends historic character with modern luxury located right on Mountain Rd. Guests love our location, three-season porch with stone fireplace, outdoor hot tub, double-sided fireplace, fire-pit, private baths for every bedroom and gourmet kitchen.
Yes. The outdoor hot tub is professionally serviced and available for guest use throughout the year, including ski season and summer evenings.
For your privacy the property, by default, is rented as one unit for your exclusive use, no matter the size of your group. However, it may be possible to book just the main house or the guest house separately under certain circumstances. Please reach out directly with any special requests or considerations.
Absolutely! Mile Away was designed with families in mind. The main house features spacious bedrooms,
a kid-friendly bunk room, multiple living areas, and plenty of outdoor space to explore. Nearby, you’ll
find family favorites such as swimming holes, hiking trails, and Stowe’s adventure parks.
That said, Mile Away is a historic home and not fully baby-proofed. A stream also runs along the edge of the property.
For safety reasons, we always recommend supervising children both inside and outside the property during your stay.
We love animals, however to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort for all guests Mile Away is not pet-friendly at this time.
Our gourmet kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, utensils, dishes, glasses, and appliances along with starter pantry items. Please review our amenities list for further specifications on what is available or contact us for further information.
Yes. High-quality linens, bath towels, and toiletries are included. We also provide hair dryers, soap, shampoo, and conditioner.
We are one mile from the first lifts of Stowe Mountain Resort, minutes from cross-country ski trails, and near hiking, biking, waterfalls, and scenic drives. Smugglers’ Notch is right up the road.
Yes. Our property managers offer concierge services and can assist with grocery stocking, private chefs, charcuterie boards, family photography sessions, ski and bike rentals and curated experiences like brewery tours, childcare, in-home massage therapy and spa reservations.

Yes. The property has high-speed Wi-Fi and comfortable spaces to work remotely if needed.
Mile Away offers a two-car garage equipped with EV chargers, along with additional parking spaces in the driveway for multiple vehicles. Please note that during the winter months, we strongly recommend 4WD or AWD vehicles to ensure safe access in snowy conditions.
Yes. Both the main house and guest house have laundry facilities and detergent available for guest use.
We follow a moderate cancellation policy: full refund up to 30 days before check-in, 50% refund up to 14 days before, and no refunds within 14 days of arrival.
Mile Away is ideal for intimate gatherings, retreats, and family celebrations. While large parties or weddings are not permitted, smaller events such as milestone birthdays, holiday dinners, or wellness retreats can be accommodated with advance approval. Please contact us to discuss your plans before booking.
Stowe is known for its incredible food and shopping scene, all within a 2–15 minute drive from Mile Away.

Check-in is after 4 PM and check-out is by 10 AM. We offer self-check-in with a secure smart lock for your convenience.
You’ll have 24/7 access to our local property manager and concierge team, who are available to answer questions or assist with any needs during your stay.

From there, you’ll be redirected to our property manager, Hollow & Hill, where you’ll receive the best rates available and access to our concierge services. Avoid parking fees and traffic and take advantage of the FREE Mountain Road Shuttle that runs all day long between Stowe Village and Stowe Mountain Resort. Our property managers can provide additional information once the new schedule is posted.

Yes. The property includes a dedicated area in the garage where you can safely store skis, snowboards, and other outdoor equipment. For comfort and safety, ski boots and gear should not be brought into the house. Instead, you’ll find a spacious mudroom with heated floors at the main entrance — the perfect place to dry and organize jackets, gloves, and ski clothing after a day on the mountain.
